Teacher Appreciation Week

My kids have wonderful teachers this year! As Teacher Appreciation Week starts tomorrow we spent some time this weekend making gifts for them.

We love giving flowers to make their desks pretty so I had each kid write "Thank you" and sign their names on a mason jar. I had them write it with a Sharpie so that the writing won't wipe off but they can scrub it off at a later date to use the jar for something else. We wrapped the edges with some ribbon and called it a day.

Lastly I made the teachers a washer necklace. These are all over Pinterest and I have been dying to make some. I found really nice quality washers at ACE Hardware and the leather cord and beads are from the craft store. My husband had to help me with the actual stamping and we found that if you wrap the washer in masking tape it prevents them from moving around and thus prevents 'shaky' letters.

I hope the teachers love their presents and more importantly I hope they know how much we appreciate them!

What do you mean by "wrapping w/ masking tape"? I think I have letter stamps I can use to make these too!

Larna:

I put the washer on top of a piece of cardboard and then taped it to it using masking tape. I then used the metal stamps to write out the word and peeled off the masking tape. It helps if you do it on a hard surface such as the garage floor. Does that make sense?

I love the use of mason jars. Thank you for stopping by The NY Melrose Family and leaving such a sweet comment on my mason jar tea light. I host a weekly link party on wednesdays and I'd for you to join in and share your latest projects.

Hi Chris! Welcome! I got the stamps at Harbor Freight Tools. It's a local hardware store that also sells online. The stamp set I used (1/8" inch) is on sale this week for $7.99!

Thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday. What a great idea! So are the letters stamped on, or did you use a tool to etch them on AFTER the stamping?

Your necklaces came out so pretty! I've been wanting to try this technique with washers for a while. Thanks for the tip about the masking tape!
