Halloween Sugar Cookies

The kids and I decided to make some sugar cookies after seeing these darling Halloween themed sprinkles in the dollar section of our favorite store. They resemble the apple cookies we made two weeks ago for my daughters school and were just as tasty!

These are basically sugar cookies covered in melted chocolate with sprinkles on top! We make sure not to over-bake them as we like them to remain soft. The chocolate "frosting" helps with that. We are so excited about Halloween in our house, hope you are too!

Rainbow Gingham Bunting ~ Banner

How cool is that banner? I won it in a contest Cheryl from a pretty cool life held a while back. She was kind enough to let me pick the color and I went with a "rainbow" theme. She sells them in her etsy store if you are interested, or you can check out the tutorial she kindly posted on her blog.

The rainbow theme was a must since it would match any party but then my daughter saw it and kindly requested it go in her room. So that's where it shall stay until the next time we have to decorate for a party downstairs.

As you can see, the light wasn't perfect for picture taking but I love the way all the different gingham looks when put together in these sweet little flags.

Thanks again Cheryl, you rock!

American Girl Doll Pool Dress

Can a girl ever have too many dresses? :) After the success of the last dress I made for my daughter's American Girl doll Rebecca, I decided to try my hand at another one.

This one started off as a baby t-shirt from the Dollar Store.

I washed it, turned it inside out and pinned according to Rebecca's shape. I tried to carefully follow the pins while giving the dress a cute shape. I loved the fact that I didn't have to hem it!

I had initially thought of making simple ties for the sleeves but then decided to make a nicer collar. The sleeves ended up being more like those on a tank top and the collar is very stretchy, so it's easy to put on and take off.

My daughter thinks it's perfect for going to the pool and now wants me to make Rebecca a bathing suit!

I also made her a matching headband with some ribbon I had leftover from another project. I will be making her many more of those as they hold her hair back very nicely and my daughter can put them on her easily.
