Sunflower Cupcakes

These Sunflower cupcakes are also from the Hello, Cupcake! book. They were a tad more complicated to make than the Play Pool! ones, but still easier than they look.

I used vanilla cupcakes with whipped vanilla frosting which was tinted in green and yellow. The center of the flowers were Oreo cookies and the ladybugs were red M&Ms.

I made these for a friend's birthday and will definitely make them again. The only thing I will change is next time I will cut the top of the cupcake to make it flat so that the petals of the flower can go around the center (oreo) rather than drop down from it.

I have that book, and these are the only ones I've ever tried to do. Yours are gorgeous! My flower petals were very drippy. :)

Cute. Instead of cutting the tops off you can put less batter in the liner when you fill them, that way you will get more cupcakes out of them. That's what I usually do when I bake cupcakes.

Pati-I just saw a version of these at the Martha Stewart website and was thinking of using them for a baby show in the fall! I am so glad to see a "real" person making them :) They look labor intensive but worth every minute! They are beautiful! Thanks so much!
