American Girl Doll Pool Dress

Can a girl ever have too many dresses? :) After the success of the last dress I made for my daughter's American Girl doll Rebecca, I decided to try my hand at another one.

This one started off as a baby t-shirt from the Dollar Store.

I washed it, turned it inside out and pinned according to Rebecca's shape. I tried to carefully follow the pins while giving the dress a cute shape. I loved the fact that I didn't have to hem it!

I had initially thought of making simple ties for the sleeves but then decided to make a nicer collar. The sleeves ended up being more like those on a tank top and the collar is very stretchy, so it's easy to put on and take off.

My daughter thinks it's perfect for going to the pool and now wants me to make Rebecca a bathing suit!

I also made her a matching headband with some ribbon I had leftover from another project. I will be making her many more of those as they hold her hair back very nicely and my daughter can put them on her easily.

Oh that's really cute! My girls use their old baby clothes to dress their toys, but I never thought to actually alter them so they fit well! Great idea!!

Really love this! My daughter is getting a bitty twin for Christmas and my MIL just ordered Felicity, my daughter's favorite but soon to be discontinued doll. So I'll be looking for ways to make more affordable clothing for her! Would love it if you joined us with this at A Crafty Soiree, a new one will be up on 12:05 AM Thursday EST.

I love love the idea of using a baby shirt, it comes pre-hemmed and a wide enough neck! Great job!

That is so stinkin' cute! I love that you made such a cute thing for super cheap since those doll clothes could break the bank. Great job! Thanks for linking up to Tuesday Tell All!

I'm so sad my girls seem to have outgrown their AG dolls. This is such a great idea! Love the pic with her hair up for her fitting. Thanks for joining in on Finished for Friday!
