We decided to do two diferent fillings. The mini pop tarts were filled with organic strawberry preserves. They were then topped with a glaze made out of confectioner's sugar, milk and natural food coloring. Although I love the look of the glaze drizzled over the top, I think we might skip this next time as the preserves were sweet enough.
The larger, and more realistic, pop tarts were were filled with Nutella. My daughter drizzled some milk chocolate over these. Straight out of the oven the Nutella filling was delicious and creamy, a great contrast to the crumly exterior.
We will definitely make these again, however I want to try some changes. I'd love to make my own filling out of fruit and I'd like to substitute some of the flour with whole wheat flour. But these are perfect and delicious as posted here @ Smitten Kitchen.

Those do look delicious!! I am going to have to try them out. I bet at least 2 of my kids would eat them. Because heaven forbid all 3 bigger kids actually like the same thing. lol.
Those look SO good! I'd just have to add sprinkles for my kids. They're sprinkle lovers.
