Pumpkin Cake

The minute I saw this cake on the cover of Family Circle last year, I knew I had to make it. We had family coming over the weekend before Halloween so the timing worked out perfectly. My son was too young (18 months) to really help, but my daughter (3.5 yrs) had a blast! I didn't realize we had started a tradition until my daughter asked me when we were making the pumpkin cake this year.

The recipe calls for a pumpkin spice cake that is baked in a bowl to give it a round shape. It is then covered in vanilla frosting and tons of M&M's.

The flavor of the cake was fantastic and we loved the way it decorated our fall table. I highly recommend a slice of this cake with a cup of coffee!!!

For the recipe check the Family Circle website, the "M&Ms Pumpkin Cake" was featured in the November 2009 issue.

Bloom Vase Set

This past spring Jen, from Tatertots & Jello, hosted a Spring Week of Giveaways. I was lucky enough to win this set of 5 bottles with chalkboard labels from Vicky at City Cradle Designs.

I received them a while back but just used them a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I forgot to take pictures during the event (a BBQ with friends) but I really wanted to show them to you in case you wanted a set for yourself. If you do, go to Vicky's etsy store and check them out: Bloom Vase Set. I set mine on the buffet table and put a yellow gerbera daisy in each bottle. They were a hit and I can't wait to use them again!

Thank you Jen & Vicky!!!

P.S. I am back from vacation. It was lovely, but I'm ready to get back to crafting. I've missed it so much!!!

Halloween Sugar Cookies

The kids and I decided to make some sugar cookies after seeing these darling Halloween themed sprinkles in the dollar section of our favorite store. They resemble the apple cookies we made two weeks ago for my daughters school and were just as tasty!

These are basically sugar cookies covered in melted chocolate with sprinkles on top! We make sure not to over-bake them as we like them to remain soft. The chocolate "frosting" helps with that. We are so excited about Halloween in our house, hope you are too!

Rainbow Gingham Bunting ~ Banner

How cool is that banner? I won it in a contest Cheryl from a pretty cool life held a while back. She was kind enough to let me pick the color and I went with a "rainbow" theme. She sells them in her etsy store if you are interested, or you can check out the tutorial she kindly posted on her blog.

The rainbow theme was a must since it would match any party but then my daughter saw it and kindly requested it go in her room. So that's where it shall stay until the next time we have to decorate for a party downstairs.

As you can see, the light wasn't perfect for picture taking but I love the way all the different gingham looks when put together in these sweet little flags.

Thanks again Cheryl, you rock!
