Little Boy Shorts

These shorts were just meant to be. I've had the pattern forever and when I saw this fabric in the remnant pile I knew I had to have it. I love the look of patchwork but never would have the patience to do it myself.

I used a Burda pattern (#9639) which I later found out my sewing teacher does not recommend for beginners. Live and learn. It definitely wasn't easy to follow and I think I will probably go back to drawing up my own pattern based on a good fitting pair of pants.

But all in all I am happy with the end result, as was the little dude. It's hard to find pants that fit him well because he's tall and skinny, so being able to customize them is perfect! These are on the longer side, but I just LOVE that look on little boys.

I realize the action shots are not the best, I just haven't figured out a way to get him to stop moving!

I am joining elsiemarley for her Kid's Clothes Week Challenge this week and I am sooooo excited!!!

So cute! Back when I had all 4 kids at home I would make over a dozen pairs of shorts in a weekend just as they got out of school. Love the madras fabric you chose!

I really like these! I had a little boy just over a year ago and after being a girl Mom for 3 years I was shocked at the lack of cute clothing avail for the boys!

Those turned out so cute. I agree, Burda patterns (and Vogue patterns) are quite a pain, no matter how long you have been sewing.

Love them!! I've loved all my burda patterns so far. Love the fabric. I have some similar fabric I'm planning to use for my girls.

I have a weekly Thursday blog party especially for people to share things they've made to be worn. Stop by if you'd like!

Well done & that is a great boy's fabric. I know what you mean about not having the patience (or the time!) to make patchwork yourself. Thanks for linking to Craftastic Monday!
