Sparkly Butterfly Dress

Day 3 & Day 4 of the kids clothes week challenge were spent working on this dress. I have been wanting to make an a-line dress forever, so I'm glad to check it off my list.

It was not as hard as I thought it was going to be, and I learned a couple of tricks along the way that I know I will use for other patterns. I love the way the inside of the neckline is done as it lays very flat, even though it has a deep curve.

The pattern I used was New Look 6504 (View B). The fabric was hand picked by my daughter a while back and she couldn't be happier to finally have the dress she's been wanting for a while. She also picked the buttons, big & purple.

I copied the pattern onto freezer paper because I know I'll use it again and again. I can't wait to make it in a fabric that I actually like :)

That is so cute! I always copy patterns to tissue paper so I can use then again as my kids grow!

She looks adorable. I have a daughter who has a dress (actually I think she outgrew it) out of that fabric too. :)

I definitely have a yard of that sparkly butterfly fabric and I feel the same way about it. Love the cut of that dress. Don't you just love how easy freezer paper makes cutting out? I just cut out my 8th pair of pants from the same freezer paper pattern and it is still ironing on great. Such a great invention.
