Kid's Tool Belts

Yesterday I worked on the favors for my son's birthday party. I am not a fan of those little plastic bags kids get at parties full of toys that are choking hazards and will break in the car on the way home from the party. I find they are a waste of money. I always try to do something that the kids will enjoy a little bit longer and that is somehow related to the party. This year I decided to make tool belts since we are doing a construction theme.

I followed One Hip Mom's tutorial and just love the way these turned out. I went a step further and embroidered each kid's initial on the front. It was my first time monogramming anything and while not perfect, I think the kids will like it. I love the tab on the side for the hammer- it adds such a cute touch!

The presentation of the favors in the truck will add a little festive touch to the party table and I know my son will be excited to hand them out to his friends. You'll notice a different pattern in the back which is a special one in pink for a princess.

Tonight I'll be working on the cake, here's a sneak peak of what I'm going to attempt to make:

I'll be back on Monday with pictures from the birthday party. Have a great weekend!
